Happy Spring!

Wow! I can hardly believe that today is the first day of Spring. Well, it still looks pretty stark around here, but I know that soon the mountains will be filled with trees showing green buds. I can't wait! Spring is my favorite time of year. It is the season of renewed hope...starting over. I wonder, would Spring be so wonderful if followed any season other than Winter? Probably not.

A Prayer in Spring

by Robert Frost

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid-air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.

Happy Birthday to me!!!

Today I celebrated 43 blessed years. No, it hasn't been all roses, but I can thank God for being there at my side every step of the way. So, I ate too much pizza, cake and ice cream - in essence, fell off of the wagon. Hey! Gimme a break! It's my birthday for crying out loud! I'll climb back on tomorrow, though. So far I've lost 30 pounds and I'm gonna keep on keeping on.

This week flew by. Carly had All County Chorus on Thursday night so she was busy all day Thursday with the practice for that. Then we had to be back to the city that night for the concert. We leave Wednesday evening for WVU because she has All State Chorus concert next Friday night and has practice on Thursday and Friday. So, I get to hang out in Morgantown by myself for two days. Oh joy! I plan on checking out the university since that's where my son will be attending in the fall - that is if he doesn't change his mind. I'll post pix of All State Chorus when we get back. Pray that I maintain my sanity until then.
